John Y. Chang
John recently joined ExploraMed as Project Architect for a second time. Prior to ExploraMed, John was the co-founder of Acclarent Inc., a medical device company focused on developing novel therapies in ENT and acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 2010. John was the Vice-President of Research and Development and later took on the role of Business Unit Leader for Acclarent’s Otology & Emerging Therapies Business Unit. Prior to Acclarent, John held the role of Project Architect at the medical device incubator ExploraMed, where he co-founded Acclarent with Josh Makower, M.D. John has held engineering roles at various medical device companies, including TransVascular (acquired by Medtronic), General Surgical Innovations (acquired by Tyco) and Guidant (Device for Vascular Intervention).
John has spent over 20 years in the medical device industry and is co-inventor on over 50 issued and 190 pending patents. John holds a BSME in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University and a MSME in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.
